The .je domain extension was introduced in the 1996 for those associated with the Island of Jersey, which part of the Channel Islands. All .je registrations are performed directly at the second level or under second level generic categories. If you are an individual connected with the Island of Jersey, you can register .je domain names on the web with the help of the Jersey domain name registry — the Island Networks. Companies, individuals, and organizations in the Island of Jersey are eligible for registration via Island Networks.
Applications are accepted on a first-come first-served basis. When your domain is accepted, you should expect to pay both the application fees and at least one year of name resolution fees. The resolution fees are charged annually and the cancellations have to be submitted within 30 days of a renewal invoice being issued. A list of reserved names and certain words are maintained by the registry, and they hold the right to decline the application for a name which is on the list of reserved words. The registry can suspend your domain name service for non-payment of the renewal fees. They can cancel any registration if fees remain unpaid for more than 365 days.
Alphanumeric terms consisting of letters between A and Z and numbers from 0 to 9 and the hyphen symbol (-) are generally accepted for .je registration. Once a .je domain is registered, the applicant has to follow the terms and conditions of the registry. An online form is now available for new customers seeking to register a .je domain; however, applications by email will be accepted only from the existing customers or resellers.
